The Archaeological Museum of Chania is housed in the monastery of St. Francis – an impressive building from an architectural point of view. The museum accommodates a wide collection of antiquities, with exhibits from the Neolithic Age to the Roman years. The gallery also features Minoan finds from the city of Chania and prehistoric finds from the caves and graves of the Geometric period. Additionally, in the courtyard of the museum there are several sculptures in a wonderful garden with flowers, like a marble fountain with lion heads and a beautiful Turkish fountain. A visit in this atmospheric museum downtown, is totally worth it.
